The Earth is in grave danger. An unknown destructive threat from the far reaches of space is now inexorably approaching, intending the destruction of all human life on the planet.

The forces of Earth, lacking any prior space combat experience, have just one hope: a single prototype starfighter, codenamed the Star Shooter.

It's all up to you! Pilot the Star Shooter, blast these fiends, and protect the Earth... at least for as long as you can.

Controls:

START: On your keyboard, you can press ENTER, or ESC, or even the P key. This starts the game, pauses the game when in progress, and boots you back to the title screen when you have a Game Over. If you're using a controller, just press the equivalent "Start"-esque button.

SHOOT: On your keyboard, you can press Z, or K, or SPACEBAR (my personal favorite). This lets you fire some little laser blasts at your space-faring foes. If you're using a controller, press the A button / the rightmost face button.

MOVE: On your keyboard, you can use the Arrow Keys or WASD to move the Star Shooter. It can only move up and down, so Left/Up will both move the ship upwards, and Right/Down will both move it downwards. If you're using a controller, you will need to use the Control Pad; this game does not support the analog stick.

In this game, you have three (3) hearts, which represents the damage you can take. If the enemies collide with your ship, or make it past you towards Earth, you will lose one of your hearts. Once you lose all your hearts... it's Game Over. Try and see how high of a score you can get before Earth is doomed!

Developer Commentary:

Heya! So, this is my entry to the LOWREZJAM 2022. It's a pretty bare-bones arcade-style space shooter game, but I would be delighted to see people try to get some high scores and post screenshots. This is the first time I've finished a game jam entry! I'm looking forward to receiving some constructive criticism, as well as trying other people's entries. But I'm mostly just pleased that I actually *made a thing* in a short span of time, despite myself.

Thank you so much for checking out my little game; I really appreciate it!
